National, state and local anti-pollution laws, either existing or proposed, generally include maximum temperature limitations for waste water drained into lakes, streams, etc. These restrictions may include storm drains as well as direct discharge into public waters. Most areas have long had such limitations with regard to sanitary sewers. Anti-pollution laws may require modification of many existing boiler blowdown arrangements, as well as consideration in design of new facilities.
